The Old Post Office Campsite, Lake District

Welcome to The Old Post Office Campsite, a peaceful riverside retreat on the western edge of the Lake District National Park. Set beside the clear waters of the River Irt in Holmrook, our family-run campsite has been offering a warm welcome since 1951.

Pitch Rates

Our pricing is simple and transparent:

  • £77 for a two night stay for two adults
  • That’s just £38.50 per night, inclusive of your pitch and access to on-site amenities.

Pitch Types

We offer a variety of pitches to suit your needs:
  • Non-Electric Grass Tent Pitch: for a traditional camping experience.
  • Electric Hardstanding and Grass Motorhome Pitch.
  • Electric Hardstanding and Grass Campervan Pitch.
  • Electric Hardstanding and Grass Touring Pitch.
  • Fully-Serviced Hardstanding and Grass Touring Pitch (Super): includes electric hook-up, fresh water supply and waste water disposal, available exclusively on Super Pitches.

Additional Charges

The base price covers two adults.

The following charges apply for extras:

  • Extra adult (16+): £7 per night
  • Child (5–16): £3 per night
  • Infants (under 5): Free
  • Dog: £2 per night (max 3 dogs per pitch)
  • Gazebo or event shelter: £9 per night (max 1 unit per pitch)
  • Bring an Awning: £6 per night (max 1 unit per pitch)
  • Bring a pup tent: £2 per night (max 1 unit per pitch)
  • Extra vehicle: £7 per night (max 2 vehicles per pitch)
  • Motorbike (2 max): £1.50 per night

All charges include VAT.

  • Toilets and Showers (coin-operated): 2 for females and 2 for males
  • Washing-up facilities
  • Free Wi-Fi

  • Direct river access for paddling and wild swimming
  • Waste disposal point

Facilities and Pricing

  • Showers: £0.50 for 10 minutes of use
  • Hair dryers: £0.20
  • Washing machine and tumble dryer: £1 for 20 minutes.
